WHAT IS PECTUS CARINATUM (PIGEON CHEST)?

Pectus carinatum (PC) is a deformity of the chest which causes the breastbone (sternum) to be pushed out. This usually occurs during the period of rapid growth in teenagers over the age of 10.
Everyone experiences chest deformities differently. In some patients, the chest is strongly anterior, while in others, the deformity is lateral bilateral (symmetrical) or unilateral (asymmetrical). The condition often occurs together with scoliosis. At the beginning of the deformity, the bones that make up the rib cage are flexible, only to become rigid over time. The more advanced the deformity, the stiffer the bones become, which brings with it a number of complications, i.e. difficult breathing or abnormal heart function. Such a condition can lead to chronic fatigue and, as a result, severe cardiopulmonary failure.
According to statistics, pigeon chest is thought to affect approximately 1 in 1,000 people and affects boys more often than girls.
In addition to daily physical therapy to maintain the flexibility of the bones, muscles and ligaments, the AM-TX-04 professional pectus carinatum brace is recommended.

How does the CARINATUM/24H carinatum brace work?

The CARINATUM/24H light-weight pectus carinatum brace is the ideal way to effectively reduce the problem of the pigeon chest.

Non-surgical treatment of the thoracic deformity, based on the use of the orthosis and combined with rehabilitation, is the primary form of treatment.
The CARINATUM/24H carinatum orthosis can be used successfully all day long.
Due to the low weight and high quality finish, wearing the product is comfortable and almost imperceptible to the wearer and almost invisible to those around.
The use of conservative treatment in the form of a pigeon chest brace is recommended between 11 and 14 years of age, when the tissues have not yet reached full maturity and are susceptible to external forces.

CARINATUM is designed to be worn for 24 hours for 7days per week through the treatment.

The CARINATUM/24H pectus chest brace is made of the highest quality, very light 6061T6 aluminum, used in aviation, which guarantees the best stabilization among the braces available on the market. The brace is worn around the chest. It provides pressure from both the front and back to direct the breastbone to neutral position. There are cushioned pads that contact the child’s chest.
The product’s aluminum frame is padded with foam elements to relieve pressure and pressure on bony prominences.
The wide range of adjustment of the brace and the skin-friendly straps allows the product to be adapted to the individual needs of the user.
The comfortable circumferential straps are made of soft material, which makes the product exceptionally comfortable to wear.
The aluminum frame of the orthosis allows it to be modelled and given the desired shape, thanks to which the CARINATUM/24H pigeon chest brace provides anterior-posterior compression, effectively correcting the resulting bone deformities. It is recommended to use the brace even 24 hours a day. Such a solution allows to induce a gentle pressure on excessive bony prominences of the chest. Systematic use of the product (6 to 8 weeks) “remodels” the chest by applying gentle pressure to gradually correct the area of protrusion.

ATTENTION! CARINATUM brace is hot covered by powder dye and galvanized. Because of that, the brace is waterproof and you can use it while swimming or taking the shower!

*ATTENTION: Because of aluminum components and rigid frame, the brace cannot be used in contact sports (in which collisions may cause harm) and in cold with chronic cough.
