WHAT DOES PANNER’S DISEASE MEAN?
This disease is really a rare but occurs among active kids up to 11 years old, rather boys. It’s connected with overusing of the elbow in throwing sports like baseball, tennis, gymnastics and acrobatics. Panner’s disease is part of a family of bone development diseases (e.g. Perthes Disease) that occurs in kids and teens. It involves the growth plate in the elbow. When bone development occurs normally, the growth plates expand and unite, which is how bones grow. However, Panner’s Disease disrupts this process, leading to cell death and destruction of the newly formed tissue. When the disease occurs, the child feels pain and stiffness and the joint is swollen.
The treatment requires immediate relief the pain by resting and immobilizing the elbow in special forearm sling AM-SOB-07.
